Artscape is a not-for-profit organization that
makes space for creativity and transforms communities.
For more than 10 years, Artscape has operated at 100% occupancy with vacancies at our buildings filled from a waiting list. Professional individual artists as well as non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. We offer live/work space and work space for artists, as well as office, administration, programming and gallery space for not for profit organizations.
Our live/work tenants are painters, sculptors, dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers, actors, arts workers, directors, producers, potters, jewellers, designers, calligraphers, woodworkers, weavers, filmmakers, photographers, writers, poets and a variety of other exciting disciplines. A selection committee of current Artscape tenants regularly reviews applications and recommends artists for tenancy. Artscape offers both Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) and Market Rent live/work studios.
To apply for a live/work space, please fill out the form here. Your application will be reviewed to ensure that you meet our criteria for professional artists, as outlined by the Draft Canadian Artist Code – if those criteria are met, we will email you a letter stating our approval. You must submit an artist statement describing the proposed use of the studio, as well as fill out the simple form below and provide an up-to-date curriculum vitae detailing professional qualifications, exhibition/commission history, education, representation and any other relevant experience.
In accordance with the Social Housing Reform Act 2000, all RGI applicants must also apply to the centralized list, managed by Housing Connections. If you wish to apply for an Artscape RGI studio, please contact Housing Connections at 416-981-6111 or visit www.housingconnections.ca for further application instructions regarding our RGI studios.
