On January 24th, Seema Jethalal, Managing Director for the Regent Park Arts & Cultural Centre will share her experiences with Toronto youth as a mentor at Doors Wide Open. The first initiative of the Making Good project, Doors Wide Open will help youth age 18-25 years learn how to connect what they love with a career in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
While no specific jobs are on offer at the event, youth will come away with a myriad of experiences shared by the mentors and a better understanding of more unconvential careers, like those in the arts. Set up in a speed-dating format, youth will spend a few minutes with each mentor learning about their path and that of their mentors.
Making Good is a collaboaration between Manifesto Community Projects, Schools Without Borders, DiverseCity Fellows and Dream Now. The project will test a number of different approaches over the next three years to hone in on what will really makes a difference in connecting young people with the careers they want and deserve.
